It was also essential for them to understand the mission of the Aga Khan Academy Hyderabad.

Academic Honesty (Beginning of the exhibition process)

The exhibition process in the Aga Khan Academy began with a very interesting and relevant issue- academic honesty
The students of grade 5 were very excited to have their first session on academic honesty. Mr Sanjeeb Mohanty, who is the director of Information Technology at the Aga Khan Academies, presided over the session.
He conducted a very interesting session with the help of music. He made students listen to the original version of some songs and music and their copied versions. Students were asked to figure out which were the original versions and which were second/copied versions. There was a lot of excitement and discussion in the classroom with regards to the above and finally students came out with their opinions.
Students were told about copyrights and given some idea on how some music directors/artistes/singers had to bear the brunt of not taking copy rights prior to making the second or similar versions of the original composition.
Students were informed of the expectations and boundaries of academic honesty.
They were given a clarity on what is considered honest and what is dishonest while citing the sources.
They were also given examples of some consequences people face with regards to their life and career due to plagiarism.
Below is a photograph of Mr. Sanjeeb taking the session:
